Choosing Diving Masks
The ocean is a vast and colourful world where interesting species and corals abound. Be a spectator and explore the ocean through the eyes of a comfortable and convenient diving mask. However, what diving mask is the right one? Shop for the ideal one since it will make your diving experience an enjoyable one.
Professional divers may need a full-face diving mask that covers the whole face and has a mouthpiece where the wearer can breathe from a breathing apparatus. Recreational divers may need a simple dive mask called a low-volume dive mask, which has two windows for each eye and a cut-out to fit over the wearer's nose and a mouthpiece gripped between the teeth is used as breathing apparatus.
In buying dive masks, several factors must be considered, including fit and features. A beginner may or may not invest on an expensive mask and snorkel combo; however, if you intend to be an expert, you may want to purchase quality dive gear. Beginners, in some cases, may want to rent diving gear from your diving instructor. Experts in diving may naturally want to buy gear and equipment that will last for years with average use. Low-quality snorkelling masks, which are made of plastic or a low-quality glass faceplate, may only be used on rare occasions.
In addition, your mask must be of proper fit and should not leak. Most divers often test a dive mask's good fit by placing it on their face without using the straps, and then inhaling through their nose. If air does not get it in with the mask in place that means the fit is good. Determine how important it is for you to have a panoramic view and find a mask that will meet your preferred requirements.
